House extensions and renovations managed for you
We manage house extensions and renovations for home owners who want the job done properly without running it themselves. That covers new rooms, an extra storey, a granny flat, a kitchen or full house renovation, and small commercial alterations. Leon works with home owners across the Helderberg, Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Strand, Gordon's Bay, along the coast to Rooi-Els and Hermanus, Cape Town and wider.
What it covers
Adding a room or renovating your home is a big spend, and most people only do it once or twice. It is easy to end up with a builder who is paid ahead of the work, a design that costs more than expected, or a job that drags on for months. Leon steps in as your representative. He helps you get plans and approvals sorted, gets fair quotes from builders, and checks the work on site before any money is released.
The skills are the same ones Leon uses on large commercial sites, scaled down to fit a family home. He keeps a simple programme so you know when the roof goes on and when the kitchen arrives. He checks that structural work matches the engineer's design and that the site is safe for your children and neighbours. If you are living in the house during the work, he plans the job in stages so you still have a working kitchen and bathroom.

Who it is for
Growing families
Families who need more space get an extension planned around how they actually live in the house.
Home owners renovating
Owners updating an older home get someone checking the hidden work, such as foundations, roofs and wiring, before it is covered up.
Small business owners
Owners of a shop, practice or small office get alterations done with as little time closed as possible.
How it works
01
Site visit
Leon visits your home, listens to what you want and looks at what the house allows.
02
Plans and quotes
He works with your architect or draughtsperson and gets comparable quotes from builders.
03
Build
He visits site at key stages, checks the work and only signs off payments for work that is done properly.
04
Handover
He walks the finished job with you, lists any snags and makes sure they are fixed.
Small to large
A small job, such as a new bathroom or a single extra room, needs a few site visits and a careful eye on payments. A medium job, like a second storey or a granny flat, needs a full programme, engineer sign-offs and regular checks. A whole-house renovation, or a small commercial alteration, is run like a small project in its own right, with a contract, meetings and a proper handover.
Questions about house extensions & renovations
Is my extension too small for a project manager?
No. We take on small jobs as well as large ones. Even a single room addition involves a builder, payments, structural work and council plans, and a few well-timed checks can save you far more than they cost. Leon will tell you honestly how much help your project needs.
Do I still need an architect?
For most extensions and storey additions you will need approved plans, drawn by an architect or a draughtsperson, and an engineer for structural work. Leon does not replace them. He works with them, makes sure the drawings can be built within your budget, and checks that the builder follows them.
Can we live in the house during the renovation?
Often, yes. Leon plans the work in stages so you keep a working kitchen, bathroom and somewhere safe to sleep. Dusty or noisy work is grouped together where possible. For bigger jobs, such as a new roof or a full strip-out, moving out for a short period may be simpler.
How much does it cost to have Leon manage my extension?
It depends on the size of the job and how long it will take. A single room needs less time than a second storey. After a first visit Leon sends you a clear fee proposal, so you know the cost of his help before you decide anything.
